Wedded Bliss

The youngest Lyon got hitched this week.

The grandkids had a grand old time at the dinner. There was dancing,chasing, eating, spilling, dancing some more, watching Nemo (lifesaver!!!!), and then dancing even more.

Swimming Lessons

The boys completed their second round of swimming lessons on Friday. Elliot is a "for real" swimmer. He can swim the length of the pool and go off the diving board. He gets worn out quickly though, considering he swims almost entirely with his arms.

Charlie loves the pool. He spends most of his time under water diving for toys.

Lucy tried to strip the whole time we were at lessons. Like her brothers before her, she wants to be in on the action at all times.

Headed to Boston

My mom qualified for the Boston Marathon yesterday! She ran the Ogden Marathon is 4:13, 2 minutes faster than the 4:15 she needed to qualify. Watching her power through the last 100 yards is always amazing.

Mom, you are an inspiration to me in so many ways. Thank you.

I'm thinking of running the Salt Lake Marathon next spring. Any takers?

Boy Heaven

"We stumbled upon "boy heaven" over the weekend. We took the kids for a bike ride along the Jordan River and found a dirt bike track with jumps galore. Before we could say, "Be careful," they were off. It took a few wipe outs before they got the hang of it.

Elliot has since asked me about 100 times, "Mom, was that the best day ever?"

The boys have also been taking swimming lessons to get ready for summer. After lessons, but before soccer, they love to climb the rock wall. They both can get to the top. However, Charlie usually freezes up there unsure of how to get down. We're working hard on the descent, since there's no way I'm climbing up.

Lucy is trying her best to keep up. She's now doing her version of a flip, a somersault, on Nana's trampoline. Nana also convinced her to climb up the ladder and go down the slide. This doesn't sound like a big deal, but the slide is more like a luge, without the turns. It's fast.

To Geoff: Sorry about the lack of posts. The Body Bugg has me obsessed with the calories I burn per minute. Blogging = 1 per minute. That's not good for my cal in/cal out ratio.

Nursery

Today was Lucy's first day of nursery! Which means for 2 of the 3 hours of church I am kid free (except for the 11 kids in my primary class).

Thankfully, she went in without a problem. She has 3 amazing teachers who held her, played with her, sang to her and taught her. So to all the nursery workers out there, you are amazing!

What else is new with our 18 month old firecracker?
* She loves dogs, the only animal sound she makes is barking
*Words: Mom, Dad, El, dog, no, Patrick (we think)
*She is binky and high chair free
*Lucy loves to ride her bike and scooter . . . which is pretty much me pushing her around on her bike and scooter
*She got her first big girl haircut

Trouble 1, trouble 2, trouble 3

After weeks of begging, bribing and wiggling, Elliot's front tooth finally came out. He was playing football and collided with his friend. He came home bloodied, yet excited. On Sunday, we tried bribing him with a Schleich husky, a Zoobooks subscription and cold, hard cash. No deal. What have I learned from this experience? Teeth fall out when they're good and ready and 6 year olds are stubborn.

After dinner tonight, Charlie and Lucy wanted a yogurt. I told them to sit up to the counter. Charlie obliged and ate his yogurt in about 1 second flat. Lucy gave me one her "looks" and walked around the kitchen trying to sit in any seat except the one with her booster. She then pulled her little red chair, which she uses as a stool to get into all sorts of mischief, over to Charlie's barstool and climbed up to finish his yogurt.

Justin looked at me and said, "She's a troublemaker." To which I sadly replied, "I know." I went to move her over to her booster seat to eat her yogurt and noticed it was missing. Enter "trouble 3." Charlie was sitting, or should I say hiding, on my kitchen floor eating Lucy's yogurt.


P.S. As I'm typing this, Lucy is on my kitchen table trying to drink Justin's coke and "help" me type. Seriously, don't you wish you were a Spencer?

Animal Yahtzee

My kids love this game! It's my new bribing tool. "If you pick up your toys, I'll play Yahtzee with you." Of course their favorite part is when anyone gets a Yahtzee, or wahtzee according to Charlie. It is definitely making the journey to Bear Lake this summer. So Morgan, Geoff and California Lyons prepare yourselves!
